Up from the underground powerhouse that is The Demigodz (Apathy, Celph Titled, Styles of Beyond) comes Motive, a sharply-calibrated MC with raw charisma and true street sensibility. After first appearing on the 2002 Ill Boogie/Caroline Demigodz EP, The Godz Must Be Crazy, Motive has been a staple within the crew that has enjoyed great independent success due to its cult-like following. In true East Coast fashion, NJ-bred, Connecticut representer Motive a/k/a "Hoody 2 Shoez" brings out his debut solo CD + DVD release, Mo-llinium: The Takeover Begins. This 24 track disc is a mixtape album professionally packaged and includes a DVD showcasing behind the scenes footage and music videos for some of the tracks contained on the mixtape. The album features original production from Apathy and Chum the Skrilla Guerilla as well as many cleverly manipulated old school and industry standards. Fellow crew members Celph Titled, Apathy, Esoteric and Styles of Beyond all make appearances and help make Motive's debut a banger from start to finish. This release comes as a follow-up to Mo's 2007 European Tour with Apathy and Main Flow as well as his continuous buzz appearances on major releases such as Apathy's Eastern Philosophy, Green Lantern and Styles of Beyond's Razor Tag, Apathy's It's the Bootleg 2xCD collection, and his role in the 2006 independent film, 6 Brothaz In A Cadillac, alongside Wildchild (of Lootpack), Slim Kid Tre (of Pharcyde) and other underground cohorts such as Mighty Casey and Oktober. With Mo-llinium showcasing Motive's sound, solo projects from fellow crew members due to surface this year, and a full-length Demigodz LP currently in the works . . . let the takeover begin!

Del is an artist who helped set the standard for the new mold of MC/Hip Hop artist. In 1991, with the release of I Wish My Brother George Was Here, and shortly after with No Need For Alarm in 1993, he laid the blueprint for the new west coast sound. His last solo album, Both Sides Of The Brain was released in 2000 on Hiero Imperium, the label he founded with other members of his Hieroglyphics crew. Del's impact on the music world did not end with his solo work, or even the albums his label released. At the beginning of the new millenium, Del branched out and through his work with Dan the Automator on the Deltron 3030 record and later with the Gorillaz multi platinum first album (and on which he voiced the hit single, "Clint Eastwood"). Del’s continued pushing of the boundaries in the art of MCing proves that talent and versatility can make rap relevant outside the traditional boundaries of the genre. Eleventh Hour ends a hiatus for Del the Funky Homosapien, one of the world’s most uniquely brilliant rap artists. It is classic material, full of lyrical twists and turns, forthright yet deeply subtle and metaphorical in its exploration of life in the Bay Area. It is a triumphant return for one of the pioneers of underground hip-hop culture.

Akrobatik, Boston mainstay and one-third of critically acclaimed hip-hop collective The Perceptionists, released his new album Absolute Value on Fat Beats Records on February 19th, 2008. Absolute Value is the long awaited follow-up to 2003's Balance, which established Akrobatik as an essential part of the Boston hip-hop scene. In 2005, Akrobatik translated his regional acclaim into national success as part of The Perceptionists. Their DefJux release, Black Dialogue, was acclaimed for its resounding criticisms of bandwagon pop culture and the Bush regime and became the only indie-rap project to register on Rolling Stone’s Top 50 Records of the Year list. Akrobatik's success then led to a recording contract with Fat Beats Records, who released Absolute Value.

Aceyalone has always been known for his groundbreaking musical styles and with his latest project Lightning Strikes, the LA legend is sure not to disappoint. The dancehall and sound selector scene of the islands is ultimately what led to the birth of hip hop, so it was only natural for Aceyalone to be drawn to this style of music when he began creating this concept album. Working with LA producer Bionik, who has a knack for crafting dub, dancehall, and reggae inspired tracks, Aceyalone went into the lab and began work on the first in a series of albums inspired by other genres of music (jazz, funk, and world music records are coming next). The result is a new sound that blends Aceyalones vocals with the up-tempo vibes of dancehall and the laid back grooves of reggae. Hopefully the core audience here will embrace this latest experiment, while simultaneously opening the doors to a new group of fans, a risk which can be compared to what Common once attempted with Electric Circus, despite the obvious differences in lyrical delivery and Acey's unmistakable flow.

Legendary Producer, Emcee, and general musical innovator G-Clef da Mad Komposa (Soul Kid Klik / Ghetto Philharmonic), brings forth his first self-produced Hip-Hop project in years. This time is no exception to innovation, as G-Clef, who ushered in both the "jazz" and "Italiano" movements in Hip-Hop, brings a new concept album, and a new group. Lost Secret features his young protege/collaborator, Archangel Metatron, and this young-meets-veteran duo drop their own groundbreaking blend of knowledge mixed with ironic hilarity. Tapping into the mind of the conspiracy theorist, as well as the "Da Vinci Code" reader, Lost Secret explore the mysterious world of Masonic Hip-Hop with some very special guests, including Buddha Monk (O.D.B. - Return to the 36 Chambers), Allah Real (Rza - Birth of a Prince), Ced-Gee (Ultramagnetic MC's - Critical Beatdown), Christbearer (Northstar - Bobby Digital presents), as well as members of G-Clef's Wu-Affiliated crew Soul Kid Klik (Soul Kid Klik - Invisible Army).

Stylistically, Channel Live has come a long way from the days when they sparked "Mad Izm" with KRS-One and produced of the most inspired extended-metaphor singles ever with 1995's "Sex For the Sport." On their third album, SECRET SCIENCE RAP, the New Jersey duo joins the ranks of hip-hop acts following Dead Prez's lead by taking on a more aggressive rhyme style and sporting a more politically conscious stance, as they take aim at President Bush and the Iraq war on most of the album's vocal cuts. (Six of the 13 tracks are instrumentals). The album was overseen by biz legends Howie McDuffie and Ill Bill for that duo's joint venture, Draft Records.
