The Wisemen are a Detroit based, Wu-Tang affiliated group consisting of rapper/producers Bronze Nazareth and Kevlaar 7 as well as MC’s Phillie and Salute. In 2006, Bronze Nazareth released his debut solo album, The Great Migration, to much critical acclaim. This heralded release helped lay the foundation for the Wisemen’s debut album, Wisemen Approaching (2007), released on the underground hip hop promised land, Babygrande Records.

The Wisemen’s sound is rooted in the contemporary Wu-Tang sound (2000 – present), which typically consists of raw lyrics delivered over hard hitting drums and soul samples. “Iconoclasts” is by far the album’s standout track as the Wisemen, along with super-lyricists Killah Priest and Vast Aire of Cannibal Ox, practice verbal gymnastics over a horn ladened beat. On “Associated,” Bronze Nazareth provides an up-tempo beat on which the Wisemen spit effective battle rhymes and Wu-Tang Killer Bee GZA makes you forget that he is 40 years old. “Mixture of Muhammed” employs a beautiful vocal sample and a well placed drum roll that perfectly accompanies Kevlaar 7’s aggressive delivery. Other notable songs include “Goblins” and “Welcome Home.”

Back in 1986 he was in a group called "Stetsasonic", which also featured future Gravediggaz callobrator Prince Paul. When the group broke up, Frukwan disappeared for many years but then he later reappeared when the Gravediggaz were formed (Prince Paul who was responsible for his comeback). Frukwan would then become the Gatekeeper, and wrote most lyrics for the group. After 1997, RZA and Prince Paul left the gravediggaz, leaving only the late Too Poetic and Frukwan to continue the band. This led to the last and often dark Gravediggaz release Nightmare in A-Minor, which was produced by Both Frukwan and Poetic. After this release Too Poetic died of Colon Cancer, which possibly marked the end of The Gravediggaz. Frukwan wasn't seen again for many years after this release, but would later do a solo album entitled Life which was released in 2003. according to Frukwan's Myspace page, there is apparently a new Frukwan album to be released in 2008.

Somewhere at the darkest fringe of the griot tradition
exists B. Dolan, effortlessly shifting shape between poet,
musician, clown, activist and performance artist. Since
2001, a series of gritty, spectacular performances have
earned Dolan considerable notoriety; both for their
controversial and challenging subject matter, and the brutal
intensity with which they are delivered. "The Failure",
Dolan's debut release, represents the most comprehensive
collection of his recordings, works, and performances to
date.

Dolan first cut his teeth at Brooklyn's Nuyorican Cafe, and
gained attention as part of HBO's Def Poetry Jam in 2002.
He's never competed in a poetry slam season without winning
it; he captured the Providence title in both 2002 and 2003,
and served as a member and coach to several national Slam
teams before breaking with poetry slam in late 2003.
