Hailing from Southern California, Aamir Yusuf quickly established himself as a wordsmith with the critically acclaimed hip hop group, Escape Artists (EA). From 1999 to 2005, EA—Xczircles, Ahmuse, & Aamir—released four albums featuring some of the underground’s finest emcees, including Awol One, 2Mex, L*Roneous, Radioinactive, Thesis Sahib, Ellay Khule, & the All Deadly Jizzm. In late 2005, Aamir set out to work on something new and different, and so began the making of “Underwater Regions”. Influenced by Poetry and the power of words, each song has been carefully constructed to exhibit and showcase an assortment of styles and emotion. With the help of artists such as Bigg Jus, K-the-I???, Ira, 2Mex, Ellay Khule, Xczircles, Factor, and many others, the album promises to give you a look into the mind of an artist’s beautiful struggle.
